About me
Hi! My name is Emma Stapp and I am the owner and head trainer here at Fundamental K9. I have loved dogs for as long as I can remember. Growing up we had one dog at a time, but since I grew up riding horses, I was always around animals of all kinds. I remember our one family dog, even into her old age, was rambunctious and jumped on you when you walked in the house. I hated it and it made me really dislike coming home to my own dog. It should never be that way.
I have one dog named Savannah. I adopted her in 2017 as a puppy and everything was going well until it wasn’t.
She had developed aggression around food and toys. I was living with my parents at the time where there was another dog and a couple cats. She would growl and snap at the dog and cats as well as us if we came near her food or toys. She also has a hound nose and would never come when called outside, and there was no fence! Nothing was working to help her and we became very disconnected. Then I discovered balanced training. I started up lessons with a trainer and we worked with an Ecollar. Once we did that, our world opened up. Her manners around food have greatly improved and I no longer live in fear that someone might get hurt. She is able to be off leash because of her solid recall/obedience and engagement with me. Savannah is my best friend and helper. She loves coming to private lessons and showing dogs the ropes during lessons.
One of my favorite parts of training dogs is being able to help the owners get their life back by teaching their dog how to be a well behaved and balanced part of the family. I love what I do.
What is our recipe to help your dog become the best they can be?
Here at Fundamental K9, we use a variety of ingredients to help you and your dog. Besides training tools, we utilize obedience, our own energy and body language, clear boundaries (we don’t leave a gray area for the dogs). These combined ingredients allow for a wonderful relationship between owner and dog, and helps to create a balanced dog with a healthy mindset who can live happily in a household and make good decisions. I will work with any dog - it doesn’t matter the size, breed, or age.
I want to help you bring out your dog’s full potential and help you to be able to enjoy all those adventures you’ve dreamed of!
Savannah, my best helper!
