I am a relationship based dog trainer. I am here for both you and your dog. But, sometimes, I will ask you to change some of your thoughts or parts of your current lifestyle in order to help your dog. It may feel uncomfortable, but I ask that you trust me. In the end, it will better your dog and their mindset, and empower you! I will teach your dog when I don’t want and reward them for what I do want. Most importantly I will coach you and give you the tools to keep up the training and continue to succeed.

I am a balanced trainer meaning I use both positive reinforcement and corrections only when necessary and when your dog knows what is expected of them. Corrections are always at a level that is fair. Your dog’s state of mind is my main priority. I am also a relationship based trainer meaning that I am here for both you and your dog. I will listen to you and your concerns and empathize with you while at the same time I am here for your dog. I will help empower you and help you build a wonderful trusting relationship with your dog.

What is your approach to training?

Will these tools harm my dog or make them worse?

Although they look mean, when used properly (which of course I show you), they open up a wonderful line of communication between you and your dog. I always use their working level meaning the lowest possible level your dog can feel. When applying a correction, it is always fair and at the lowest level that is meaningful to them. We never use cheap equipment either. All of our tools are exceptionally made. Even for aggressive or anxious dogs, they are very beneficial because it allows us to interrupt those aggressive of anxious thoughts and then it helps to guide them into a calmer state of mind. When your dog starts to understand what the stimulation means, we can use it with all obedience and in all sorts of different situations and that helps to build their confidence.

How long will it take for my dog to be trained?

All dogs are different. Some pick up on things quicker than others. Others require more repetitions. However, training is a journey and a lifestyle. Once your dog knows what he is supposed to do, we need to continue to practice and hold them accountable on a daily basis.

No! Just because your dog is older, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be trained. It just means they have had more years of patterning certain behaviors. It will take some extra practice, repetitions, and consistency to help them to pattern new behaviors. As with all dogs, it is important to set realistic expectations.
